Business Strategy
Porter's Five Forces:
In order to identify Commvault’s competitive business strategy, we need to look at it through an analysis of Porter’s Five Forces. This model was created in 1979 by a Harvard Business School professor, Michael Porter. The purpose of Porter’s Five Forces is to “help you to analyze the attractiveness of a particular industry, evaluate investment options, and assess the competitive environment in your market” (MTCT).
Force | Strength |
Bargaining Power of Customers | Low- They offer their services/products at competitive and affordable prices for their customers. |
Substitute Products/Services | Low- As technology continues to advance, people will become accustomed to it and Commvault will only become bigger |
Bargaining Power of Suppliers | Low- The number of suppliers is far more compared to the buyers, making it a weaker force. |
Threat of New Entrants | Low- It can be difficult for companies to enter in this space. The technology is advances and takes a long time to develop. |
Rivalry | High- Veritas, Veeam, and Cohesity are their biggest competitors. |
